{Name} Shikishima Ibuki [敷島 勇吹]
{Manga} The Young Magician
{Age} 18
{Gender} M
{Height} 5'10"
{Abilities} Ibuki possesses the Aetheral Eye. This means that not only can he locate aether, but he can also give the aether to someone to boost his own abilities. In addition, his Eye is unique because if he has seen something, even if he can't remember it, he will be able to recreate it. This renders him as a powerful healer. Ibuki can also take an object and transform it into something else, be it physical or spiritual. He can create infinite amounts of aether because his breath control is so perfect. He also has the ability to pull in aether from around him, thus preventing other people from casting spells if necessary. Ibuki also has the ability to see spirits, although only the purest of spirits can approach him. His Shinto background gives him the ability to seal or bind demons. He is skilled in holy magic, but in elemental, knows next to nothing.
{Skills} Ibuki has superior breath control and can cast spells as easily as breathing. His body is always filled with power, and his breath control is what makes his Aetheral Eye superior to most others. Ibuki can also hold an amazing amount of liquor, this credited to the fact that he has been drinking for so long.
{Weapons/Accessories} A feather from Nagi, a higher being. She is one of the first non-humans that he ever met, and they have been friends ever since.
{Weaknesses} It also takes a moment for him to activate his Eye's effects, meaning it is easy for opponents to take advantage of his slowness. Ibuki also does not possess the ability to truly kill. That was his best friend, Carno. This does not prevent him from using his powers, but it will create hesitations when he should strike immediately.While he is capable of using his Aetheral Eye to transform threats (usually they must be bound first), the Eye causes his own eyes to sting so it can be difficult at times to see clearly. Luckily, his ability to create instantaneous shields decreases the advantage an opponent can hold over him during his hesitations. Ibuki is also terrible at sensing people and feeling where they are. This does make him harder to influence spiritually and mentally however.
{Physical Description}
Ibuki alternates between wearing the costume of a Japanese priest or everyday modern clothes, like his black jacket and white pants. Other times, he will wear a jean jacket along with any one of his numerous shirts. His eyes tilt up naturally at the edges so that he always looks happy, and the hair on the back of his head spikes up, making Ibuki's hair fluffier than it actually seems. He also smiles a lot.
{Personality} Ibuki will make friends with anybody as long as they are willing, especially if they wish to drink with him. He understands much more than he shows, as he has a spacey air around him. Ibuki keeps his temper in check, and some even wonder if he can get angry. To most people, he is a mystery, because what may bother them he has already figured out a way to handle. Ibuki plays peacemaker, although what he usually does is kept hidden from the rest of the world because he likes to have the two sides think they worked it out on their own. According to an old friend of his, all he ever does is worry about other people. Ibuki doesn't care about himself; it is other people getting hurt that frustrates him.
In the past, Ibuki has had a lot thrown at him, including having his family torn apart after a single night and a bloodbath occur at a hospital because of him. Whenever he thinks about that incident, he loses his eyesight, although this is now gradually fading. Ibuki wishes to stand on his own two legs, but at the same time, he also yearns for someone to lean on. Before the hospital incident, he never repressed anything, but now he has a lot of difficulty expressing his feelings. Even though he still doesn't judge people, he has trouble understanding them and truly knowing them. This bothers him and he tries to fix it, but it never really works out in the end. Thanks to Levi and Carno though, along with the return of his younger brother, Ibuki has begun to return to his old self, but he has not completely recovered psychologically. He is not as open as he once was, but he makes an effort to talk to other people. When he can't, he offers them sake and he uses that as a medium to help him socialize.
{Background History} Ibuki is the middle son in his family. His name is not written the usual way, as the kanji for "life" is replaced by "courage" Isamu, his father's name, which was also going to be his name. However, his mother just had to name him Ibuki (without completely understanding that urge) and thus Ibuki became his name. Sadly, Ibuki's mother died when he was young and his father remarried. Ibuki never had a problem with Mariko, but his older brother, Isao, and his younger brother, Yuta, did. He proved to be the icebreaker between the two sides because he accepted Mariko without question, and gradually, his two brothers came to accept her. Out of his entire family, Ibuki is the most powerful. His two brothers have some powers, and his father is an expert in kendo, but it is Sasayuki and Ibuki who hold the true powers.
For a long time, Ibuki did not realize the true extent of his powers and what they meant. However, after an encounter with Nagi and meeting the astral spirit of a trapped boy, his Eye was called to attention by the Holy Knights Templar, a group that gathered unique powers together. Once they realized that his Eye was special, they decided to kill him, believing him to be a threat. Carno was sent to do the job, but Yuta interrupted and a fight ensued between Ibuki and Carno. Carno ended up letting Ibuki go, but a demon soon caught Ibuki and dragged him to the hospital where a bloodbath began. With Carno's help, Ibuki managed to get away (and also escape the Knights), but the bloodbath and the earthquake caused by the demon tore Ibuki's family apart. Both Isao and his grandfather survived because Isao was in Hokkaido at the time while Ibuki's grandfather lived on a hill far away from the incident. Yuta on the other hand was transported to the past to begin his life again. No one knew what happened to their parents.
To make things more complicated, Levi asked Ibuki and Carno to join a new magic association he was creating. The two accepted Levi's offer and in time, Nagi, Levi, Ibuki, and Carno became good friends. Life never liking to be peaceful however, Ibuki was once more thrown into turmoil. Arc, the King Magician, chose Ibuki as his next successor, meaning he would never be able to find out what happened to his family or lead the life of a normal human being again. His goal was to create a god, and he developed a series of games that challenged Ibuki and his friends. The ones who had more willpower would win, and the ones who lost would lose their "selves." With Arc appearing, Nagi, his first friend, also left their group and was replaced by Raffia, a Chinese magician who took over as his mentor in magic. ((More will be added as I read more of the books to find out what else happens)).
Two years after the incident with Carno and the rest of the magical world, Ibuki has moved away from it all so he can fully recover from the psychological damage it has done to him. Even though he knew he was strong, he wished he didn't have those powers because of the hurt it caused everyone, especially his family. Although he still feels guilt from what happened, he knows now not to blame himself for it and so does not let it bother him as much as it once would have.
{Dreams} To be a stronger person, to recover completely from the emotional and mental trauma he went through over the last two years.
{Extras} Ibuki has been drinking for a long time. He always finds a way to sneak a sake bottle, and the rooftop may become his favorite hiding spot. I have also purposely chosen this character so he can be used to handle stuff that gets out of hand. <.<; He's not all-powerful, but he can hold his own. I do not know what happens at the end of the series because the company that licensed it is no longer publishing manga, so beyond what is written past this profile.. I have no idea. <.<
